Hello there! My name is Ken and I am a Chinese senior high A Level student in Guangdong Country Garden School. Welcome to Ken's Study Journey website and blog! Today, I am going to talk about some of my suggestions to Apple that can boost my efficiency.
Recently, Apple organised a WWDC event that introduced many new features such as SharePlay and iCloud+. However, I still have some efficient features I want.
I also found a problem that many app developers and companies put significance on smartphones as they are more convenient, which is harmful for eyes if we use them for a long time, rather than tablets, iPad and computers. So, we usually have difficulties to study using computers.
After I shared these suggestions with my classmates, they feel that I am very intelligent because they couldn't imagine them. So, I am going to make some feedbacks to Apple to show my idea.
This article is going to share 5 major features I want Apple have. Let's begin!
Note: All of the images in this article are edited with Adobe Photoshop and are entirely fictitious. Apple products do not have the features described in the images.
All suggestions described in this article should work on Mac computers with both Intel or Apple chip and work with or without Internet access, like AirDrop and Handoff.
Productive Features that Apple will Add Later
In the WWDC event organised by Apple on June 7, 2021, I notice that Apple is going to add some useful features in the 2021 autumn.
First, I am going to talk about some features that Apple is going to add a few months later and their definitions. My suggestions will be shown in the sections below.
Spatial Audio
Spatial Audio is the audio effects in music and movies that come from many different directions supported by Dolby Atmos.
To be honest, this feature is already enabled at the beginning of June 2021. It gives me a sense of satisfaction when enjoying Apple Music and some movies.
SharePlay
SharePlay is a feature in FaceTime that allows many people to listen to music and/or watch videos at the same time. Any people can control the music or videos.
FaceTime on Non-Apple Devices
FaceTime is going to support non-Apple devices still with end-to-end encryption. Some top students in my class and I usually use Apple devices (iPhone and MacBook), but my parents use Windows and Android. So, using FaceTime will not be a big problem later on.
I noticed that FaceTime on non-Apple devices uses webpage with browsers. So, it is compatible with even all operating systems, including Huawei Harmony OS.
Quick Notes
I usually use Apple Notes with iCloud. Now, we will be able to start a quick notes with new iOS/iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey at any time to avoid missing some important things.
iCloud+ with Privacy Relay and Hide my Email
iCloud is going to upgrade itself with some new features, such as iCloud Mail Privacy Relay and Hide my Email with many random email addresses for newsletters and sending emails. We can subscribe to some website newsletters without exposing real email addresses. It may also prevent phishing.
If someone leaks an email address, we also can simply delete one of the random email addresses generated to prevent spam emails.
Its price is exactly equal to the previous version. No additional cost is needed.
Microsoft 365 is originated by Microsoft Office 365. It also has more features at the same price.
Announce Notifications on AirPods with Siri (including WeChat)
A few months ago, Apple already made a feature that announces calls and messages on AirPods with Siri.
In China, however, WeChat may replaced standards messages, so this feature may be useless there.
Later on, Apple is going to enable a feature that announces all notifications on iPhone, including WeChat messages.
New Safari Interface and Tabs Collection
In iOS 15 and macOS Monterey's Safari, we can organise the tabs on it if we open a large number of tabs. They can also be synchronised between devices. So, we can conveniently manage the tabs and do our work in different environments.
Life Text in Photos (Apple Chips only)
Next, Apple devices with Apple chips will be able to capture text in an image without typing them again.
Unfortunately, it does not support Mac computers with an Intel chip. However, I can capture text from an image on my iPhone or using another OCR app.
I like using Apple products, but I don't use iPad or Mac computers with an M1 chip until I go to university.
I don't use an iPad because it cannot be used for programming, using Python, Java or C++. I don't use Mac computers with an M1 chip because I need to make both macOS and Windows apps.
So, I lose their benefits, but they are unimportant because I seldom use them.
I have planned to use Mac computers with an Apple chip when I go to a university in the UK in 2023. It may be better because I estimated that there will be a lot of improvements on M3, M4 or M5 chips.
Batteries widget on macOS control centre and synchronising battery status
Now, I am going to talk about my suggestions to Apple with new features.
There is a Batteries widget on iOS and iPadOS, but it is not included on macOS.
So, I suggested that Apple should add a Batteries widget on macOS and synchronise battery status between iCloud devices. I will not need to take out my iPhone or iPad to see their batteries status.

New iOS battery settings

New macOS battery settings

By the way, if the battery on the iPhone or iPad is low, we should also enable Low Power Mode for them right on the iPad or Mac computers as well.

Synchronise notifications from iPhone to macOS
Obviously, many app developers and companies pay attention on phones instead of computers. Meanwhile, some of the apps do not allow logging in on many devices at the same time. So, we need to take out the iPhone to see the notifications of them.
I think that the notifications on the iPhone should be synchronised to iPad and macOS computers on iCloud, with or without Internet, removing duplicate notifications.
Also, we should be able to manage or clear notifications right on the Mac as well along with synchronising new Focus (Do Not Disturb) mode.
Widget Areas and App Library in LaunchPad on macOS
Similarly, the widget areas and App Library are only available on iPhone and iPad, but not Mac computers.
I think that they should also available on Mac computers in LaunchPad, so we will not need to open the Control Centre from time to time. We just need to open LaunchPad to see the situations when opening an app, like the tiles on Windows 10 Start Menu.

Health and Weather apps on macOS
Look at the image above, you can see that Health and Weather apps lie in the LaunchPad on macOS.
In fact, many schools, including my school, ban cellphones and/or tablets/iPads, but not laptops and Apple Watch. So, I think that Health and Weather apps should be added on macOS, along with the same weather effects on iOS 15.
Also, I can input and record the health situations, such as my daily weight, on the Health app right on the macOS. Mac computers and iPad should also connect to Apple Watch directly to synchronise steps.
Siri Suggestions on Mac
As I mentioned above, some schools ban cellphones but not laptops. So, I think that macOS should also have Siri suggestions like iPhone, along with the new Shortcuts app.
If this feature only supports Mac computers with M1 chip, it should be also synchronised with iPhone or iPad on Mac computers with Intel chip.
Offline iCloud synchronisation
In my hometown, there is no Internet (WiFi) access and no signal on my iPhone. So, I have difficulty to synchronise my reminders, notes, calendar, and text messages between my devices.
I think that iCloud should also be synchronised and text messages should also be forwarded and used between iPhone, iPad and MacBook without Internet access, like AirDrop and Handoff using WiFi and Bluetooth. Then, they can be synchronised with real iCloud servers when one of the devices is connected to the Internet.
This is the end of the article and thanks Apple for providing convenience and an opportunity for me to study effectively. I hope Apple can adopt my ideas and suggestions and improve its products.
