Hello there! Welcome to Ken's Study Journey! Today, I am going to talk about 3 changes that can let me study effectively.

I have an excellent study strategy, but I cannot adapt to a new school routine previously. So, I made a few changes recently to improve my productivity again.

I have been inventing some new ways and things to study better and effectively since 2019, so my scores were better and better. Also, I have been featured by my extra classes and schools as an excellent student and entered the top 10 in my whole grade for the scores.

Last month, I introduced 8 things that can let me study effectively, which is not enough for me.

However, I still need some time to adapt to the new routine although I feel more relaxed recently. Hence, improving the things and study strategy I invented is crucial. The more improvements we did, the greater consequences will happen.

This article will introduce and demonstrate 3 changes I made. Let's get started!

New Correction Notebook

Firstly, I made and tried to use my new correction notebook to memorize the mistaken questions from the homework and the test papers to practice and prevent the same problem from happening again.

It looks great because it helped me a lot when reviewing the knowledge before an exam, especially economics (so I got an excellent result of it).

I separated the notebook into 2 books. The first one is the question book, which stores the questions without answers. Another one is the answers book, which stores the answers of the associated questions.

I just need to take a blank paper to answer the questions, and then open the answers book to check the answers. Each question has a unique number, so I can find the answers of the questions easily.

In addition, I usually write a reviewing plan on a sticker and stick onto the cover of the book, so I can review it periodically before the exam.

Did you know?

Many excellent students use correction notebooks. This is because they want to reduce the mistakes while reviewing the knowledge before an exam.

We need to use the correction notebooks properly and we should cover the answers when answering the questions. Otherwise, it will not be useful.

Trying to use Screen Time

Secondly, I started to use the screen time feature to restrict my phone usage.

I am not indulgent when using electronic devices during the weekend. However, many students play games on the phones or computers and it is out of control.

But sometimes, I cannot control myself when using a specific app on my devices. So, screen time feature can help me in case I am out of control. When the time is up, I will not able to use the same type of apps anymore today unless I click 'continue'.

Also, the screen time can analyze my usage of my phone and show the summary every Sunday.

The daily restrictions of my apps:
  • Social apps (exclude WeChat and other chatting apps): 1 hour.
  • Music apps: 5 hours.
  • Video apps: 3 hours.
  • News apps: 1 hour.
Did you know?

iOS and Mac OS have the screen time feature already, so we can use it directly without installing any apps. Just set up in the system settings. Android phones, however, need an app to be installed to control the phone usage.

Different Goals for Weekdays and Weekend

I also have modified my daily goals and my checklist. This is because I cannot achieve all of my goals at weekend but I can achieve them on weekdays.

The goals for weekdays and weekends/holidays are different, which means the same goal has 2 different amounts.
