Preparations after 2020 Winter Vacation and Back to School

The winter vacation is coming to the end and the new semester will start soon. I am going to make some preparations after my 2020 winter vacation for the new semester and go back to my school.

The semester should have started on February 17, 2020. It has been delayed and I need to have online lessons at home.

During this period, I am going to prepare some stationeries and plan for the next semester in order to be better after going back to school and I am able to go outside.

I have prepared some essential things for my next semester while I am staying at home. Meanwhile, I don't feel boring because it is the best occasion to have good preparations after my 2020 winter vacation.

1. Folders

In order to organize the materials the teacher hands out, I have bought some folders. Different folders have resources for different subjects.

I will put the documents into my folders immediately after class. Otherwise, the environment will change into chaos.

I use Folders with Zippers instead of Buttons. Why?

From now on, I use folders with zippers instead of buttons. Folders with buttons can damage the files in which and the files will be dropped easily.

2. Signs in my Bedroom

Then, I have made some signs and stuck them in my bedroom. They show the directions and instructions to do things. They can remind me to do my things correctly and faster.

If I follow the signs in my bedroom, I will always feel relaxed although there are so many tasks.

3. Stationeries

Stationery is an essential kind of study thing, which can help you to do some elementary activities while studying.

I have bought some stationeries, such as color pens, pen containers, pens, rulers, maths set, highlighters, lead pencils, stickers, and so on.

4. New Devices and Facilities

I also study with electronic devices, which is helpful to find information online and reduce weight, especially in the café.

However, I don't have many study devices and facilities, just some fundamental things such as a keyboard, mouse, headphone, speaker, etc.

In the 21st century, there are some high-tech things that can help me to establish a better study environment. I usually use Bluetooth and other technology to make my life easier.

While I am preparing for my study environment, I have bought some new devices and facilities.

  1. Bluetooth Headphone
  2. Selfie pod (it can be used for fixing the phone location when recording YouTube videos)
  3. Kindle Paperwhite
  4. USB Hub for my PC (I know this one from a YouTube video)
  5. Wristband (for Steps and Heart Rate)
  6. Alarm Clock

5. Comfortable Study Environment

I have separated my desktop into 3 parts. Different parts have different functions. I usually do my work in the working area and take things in other areas.

It can help me to do things faster and effectively. I will have enough space and feel comfortable to study and do my own things as a result.

6. My New Study Strategy

In order to get better scores and relax, I have made my new study strategy.

My study strategy can manage my routine and study better. One of my personal rules indicates I should finish today's homework today as possible.

I will introduce my new study strategy in my future articles.

7. Study Plan, Goals and Checklists

My study plan, goals and checklists can help me to achieve my aims, remember the knowledge firmly and study better.

Study Plan

6:30 AM – 6:50 AM every day Recite English words. (get up at 6:15 AM)

10:00 PM – 10:20 PM every day Read books.

Every Saturday evening 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM Watch an English movie.

Note: The plan will not be applicable when there are too many studying tasks.

Daily Goals

  1. Remember at least 100 English words. *
  2. Read books for at least 1 hour. *
  3. Speak at least 75 English sentences. *
  4. Remember at least 3 Chinese words.
  5. Walk for at least 10,000 steps.
  6. Chat with at least 4 friends.
  7. Raise my hand at least once during the lesson.

The indispensable goals are marked *. There is no penalty for the failure to achieve dispensable goals.

8. New Study Routine

I have been modifying my study routine and arrange my plans with a suitable study routine. I have created a schedule for my next semester. Some high tech things also can help me to study anywhere and at any time.

Before After
Use a basic headphone with a long line and listen to TED talks only when I am at the car. Use a Bluetooth headphone and listen to TED talks in my free time.
Carry heavy paper books when I am outside. Carry a Kindle reader when I am outside.
Remember English words only in my free time. Remember English words every morning.
Finish homework in a dedicated time. Finish today's homework today as possible.
